Having been 99.9999% faithful to satellite radio for just over a year now, it’s no wonder that I missed the launch of boom 99.7, a local station that hit the airwaves around the same time that DF and I bought our new car and a monthly subscription to Sirius XM.
Now that times of austerity have fallen upon my house it’s looking more and more as though we’ll be dropping the satellite radio service, so it’s good that boom 99.7, with a playlist culled from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s (basically, the stuff I enjoy listening to) can be assigned its own button on the car stereo.
boom 99.7 further endeared itself to me today by hosting a mid-day BBQ on the grounds of the Dovercourt Recreation Centre, serving up the always-winning-combo of free hamburgers (courtesy of Burgers on Main) and good music. DD and I each got a voucher from Hummingbird MediSPA for a free Express Pedicure or Facial/Skin Care Consultation (neither of which a 9-year-old with my daughter’s complexion needs, so I will be re-gifting hers), and DS14 picked up a pass for 2 people to attend the advanced screening of The Bourne Legacy next Wednesday at Empire 7 Cinemas. I also entered my name in a draw to win a trip to Mexico. You know where to find me, guys, and my bags will be packed and waiting by my front door.

As a matter of fact, I did take a picture of my lunch, because nothing is as good as the taste of something FREE. Otherwise it would have been tinned-meat sandwiches at home, which would not have been nearly as pleasing to my kids. Thank you, Burgers on Main! (Photo Credit: V. Martin)
